Automate Your Life – Get A Smart Home
Builders today are building smart homes reading for the future of IoT (Internet of Things). Having an automated home starts with an internet connection along with a network. Your network can be either a wireless or wired network, though you can have a hybrid of both.
Both achieve the same results though there are some differences. In terms of reliability & speed a wired network is superior. In terms of ease of installation in a non-wired location wireless networking is preferred. In recent years wireless network technology has improved in both reliability and speed and continues to improve.
With your network in place you can begin to decide what devices you need or want in your home. I roughly divide automation into 4 categories. There is
security, convenience, communications, and monitoring.
Security would include devices such as motion sensors, video door bells such as Ring and Wyze doorbell , a camera security system, and home locks.
In the convenience category there are voice assistance such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Lenovo Voice controlling devices such as smart blinds, lights, plugs, and garage doors.
With communication devices you can talk to people in other areas of the house, have pages read to you, and translate foreign languages.
The last category is monitoring that provides updates on items such as hot water heaters, water sensors, and garage doors.
